Keith Bradshaw trained in both art and architecture at Bourneville College of Art and the Bartlett School of Architecture, University College London. This education provided Keith with the opportunity to develop projects where materials became less important than the atmosphere of spaces: this led very naturally to working with light.

His professional career has included a wide range of lighting design projects including civic buildings, historical restorations, retail spaces, theatres, leisure spaces and commercial projects both internationally and within the UK.

Keith joined Speirs + Major in 2002 and has since been involved in many of the practice’s notable projects including the Copenhagen Opera House and much of the practice’s work with fashion brands. He led the Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Mosque of Abu Dhabi which won the 2010 Radiance Award given by the International Association of Lighting Designers. In the same year the exterior lighting of the Mosque won the 2010 Paul Waterbury Award of Distinction given by the IES: an interior Award of Excellence also went to Armani 5th Avenue for its innovative use and integration of LED. Similarly the Armani Ginza Tower won the outstanding achievement award at the 2009 Architectural Lighting awards.

Matt Clark is a founder and Creative Director of United Visual Artists, a London-based art and design practice developing work at the intersection of sculpture, architecture, live performance and responsive installation. Through research and collaboration UVA explore diverse opportunities and environments to produce an innovative portfolio of projects.

UVA has worked on commissions and exhibitions both in the UK and internationally. Areas of investigation for the studio include the role of the spectator, natural phenomena and systems, perceptions of technology, and the use of light as a medium. Constantly pushing the boundaries of research, software and engineering, UVA strives above all else to create work that it inspirational and engaging.

Paul James is editor of mondo*arc magazine and has been responsible for the growth of mondo*arc since its inception in 1999 making it the leading independent international publication for architectural lighting design. Targeted specifically at lighting designers, architects and specifiers, mondo*arc offers insightful editorial on architectural, retail and commercial lighting.

Gerd Pfarré IALD, born 1960, founder and managing /design director of pfarré lighting design, an independent lighting design practice in Munich. 2012 co-founder of the publishing company Lighting Press with Frank Koschembar.

1978-81 apprenticeship in carpentry and cabinet-making, first designs for lights and furniture. 1982-85 product and exhibition design in the team of Ingo Maurer. 1987-89 freelance designer in Milan and Berlin. 1989-98 lighting design and graphic design for Ingo Maurer. Since 1992 independent lighting designer. Professional member of the International Association of Lighting Designers IALD since 1998. 2002-05 member of the IALD board of directors. IALD Fellow since 2012. Member of the Deutscher Werkbund. Author specialized in the area of lighting design. Lecturer at the Technical University in Munich and in conferences aroundthe world. Juror for awards programs, recipient of numerous national and international design awards. Since 2012 Co-Editor of the magazine ILLUMINATOR.

“I was delighted to be asked to participate in this project. Apart from a many other associations, the concept of One Beam of Light takes me back to my very early days. As a young boy, after my parents turned off the light in my room, One Beam of Light was the torch light under my blanket, creating my first spatial experience with light. I am sure that I share this experience with many, many others.”

Terence Woodgate is an Industrial Designer specialising in furniture and lighting. He works from his studio in East Sussex, England. One of the UK’s most respected industrial designers, Terence has become known for a stripped-down, elegant, modern approach to design with an obsessive attention to detail and manufacture, exemplified in products like the ethereal Surface Table designed with John Barnard for Established & Sons.

He became a Royal Designer for Industry (RDI) in 2003 and has received several international design awards, including the Red Dot 'Best of the Best' and the IF ecology award. His current client list includes Established & Sons, Punt Mobles, SCP, Concord Lighting, Paviom & Izé. Examples of his work are held in private collections and in the permanent collections of the Museu d'Arts Decoratives, Barcelona and the Victoria and Albert Museum, London.
